Introducing your new Pulse Nursing at Home newsletter

We’re delighted to introduce you to the very first edition of our Pulse Nursing at Home newsletter.

As part of our continued commitment to providing a world-class service to you, you will receive a newsletter from Pulse Nursing at Home once every quarter. The newsletter will include the latest updates and key information, and useful guidance to support your world-class career with us.

The quarterly newsletters provide an opportunity to reflect and celebrate the exceptional work you and your colleagues have achieved in the previous quarter and how you have played a vital role in supporting individuals to live safe and fulfilling lives in their own homes and local communities.

"Hi there, I’m Angela, Deputy Operations Director for Pulse Nursing at Home.

On behalf of everyone at Pulse Nursing at Home, I want to take this opportunity to thank you for delivering exceptional, high-quality care and support to all our clients in the community last quarter.

The last quarter of 2023 was a great success. We witnessed many of our clients achieve personal goals and take visits to their local communities, and you played a very important role in making this happen.

The compassion, commitment and expertise you bring to your role supports Pulse Nursing at Home to work towards our vision to ‘Be the leading provider of world-class care services across the UK and Ireland’. We are on a journey together to achieve this, and you are essential in making this happen.

Thank you for everything you’ve done so far. Please know your commitment to our clients and the exceptional care and support you deliver does not go unmissed. We look forward to another successful quarter and sharing the highlights with you in our next quarterly newsletter.”

After a very successful quarter 4 in 2023, we want to take this opportunity to reflect and celebrate the care you delivered to our clients and share with you a good news story about a Pulse Nursing at Home client.

Last quarter, we delivered a total of 82,842 hours of care to 59 clients in the community. We are incredibly grateful for your contribution to this fantastic achievement; we look forward to seeing this number grow every quarter so we can continue supporting more individuals to receive care in their own homes and communities.

We have a wonderful client news story to share with you from one of our paediatric clients. They’ve had a challenging start to life with their health needs, and Pulse Nursing at Home became involved in this young boy’s care by training carers to enable him to safely transition from hospital to live at home with his mum.

He’s now settled at home and begun an educational health care plan, along with securing a place at nursery, which he will be starting in September. Between now and summer, we will build upon his existing care team to ensure he is fully supported and ready to start nursery.

His mother has also agreed to volunteer as a parent advocate by working alongside services to support and encourage parents in a similar situation through classes and organised talks.

A special thank you to our teams for working collaboratively with the client and his family; it's great to receive stories like this of how we support our clients, but also their families as well.

MHRA Drug Safety Update

BNF Update

We have seen an increase in medication incidents in the previous quarter relating to incorrect frequency of medication administration or incorrect dosage of medication. This is particularly relevant when clients have frequent medication changes.

Please be extremely vigilant in your medication management and if a medication is unclear, please contact your Clinical Lead or Out of Hours Team for support. There is additional medication guidance training available on Compass.

We are excited to announce that electronic MAR charts are coming to DNL to support safe medication management. Your clinical lead will be in contact when your package is transitioning over.

Since the implementation of DNL, our teams have been busy creating helpful resources to support you to feel confident using the new system in your role.

There is a full step-by-step video guide on Compass showing you how to use DNL during your shifts. The video guide is split into steps so you can skip to your required step on using DNL.

If you have any queries about the new digital recording system, please email our team here or reach out to your clinical lead with any questions or concerns you have.
